About Turning Point Park

Turning Point Park, located in Rochester’s Charlotte neighborhood near Lake Ontario, spans 275 wooded acres along the banks of the Genesee River. Visitors can explore a variety of scenic landscapes—from the oak-filled Bullock’s Woods to the cattail-lined riverbanks—via well-maintained hiking and biking trails ideal for nature watching and soaking in river views.

One of the park’s standout features is its award-winning boardwalk and trail system, which received the American Public Works Association’s “Transportation Project of the Year” Award (in the $2–$10 million category) in 2008. The trail includes three key segments: a 2,968-foot land-based path following a former railroad bed, a 3,572-foot bridge spanning the Genesee River Turning Basin, and a 3,406-foot trail through Turning Point Park North, running alongside the Genesee Marina.

This scenic trail is also part of the larger Genesee Riverway Trail, offering over 16 miles of continuous access through Rochester—connecting Ontario Beach Park to the north with downtown to the south
