In 1932, comedian and political satirist Mark Russell is born in Buffalo. Russell is widely known from his bimonthly comedy specials that would air on PBS.

Later in life, Russell played an important role in Fair Use and the ability to parody. Most notably, Russell went to bat for 2 Live Crew when their copyright infringement case over their song “Oh, Pretty Woman” went to Supreme Court.
